Summer Camp at Varanashi Farms

A unique opportunity for kids aged 12-17 to experience this clean-green environment while living a sustainable lifestyle with nutritious food for a fortnight filled with adventure and exploration. This Low Carbon-Foot-Print camp at Varanashi Organic Farms aims to enrich lives through a hands-on learning experience of how the farm (which has been organic for over three decades) functions.

Jataka Flow Fest began on the 29th of February and went on until the 1st of March 2020. We had pioneers from various movement and sport communities come together and organise workshops for our participants over those two days. It was a campsite festival that housed around 100 participants and 50 talents & artists who share a common love for movement, art and nature. Varanashi Organic Farm is locate don the west coast of India in Southern Karnataka, Its a family run oranic agricultural farm which has been passed down by generations since last 300+ years and currently covers around 100 acres with numerous irrigation ponds, as well as a river and a riverlet adjoining one of the two properties

From the 10th-20th October, we worked with 20 German volunteers on Varanashi Organic Farms. Our work was to fertilise different trees: cacao, nutmeg, arecanut and coconut trees. We fed the plants with 45 tons of manure and covered 15 acres with it.   We worked in teams of 5-10. So, we split the work in different steps. That was very good and effective. During their summer project in April and May, 12 volunteers met at Varanashi Organic Farms. Our working days started with putting out the cocoa to dry and after that, different kinds of work was done. Mainly, they we cleaned the water channels in the cocoa plantations for the rainy season. Varanashi Organic Farms currently extends for about 100 Acres over two properties, with seven irrigation ponds, as well as a river and a riverlet adjoining one of the properties. Crop plantations are maintained within the natural vegetation of the area, and 60% of the farms is still untouched forest. Crops like Arecanut, Coconut, Cocoa, Nutmeg, Banana, Black Pepper, Jackfruit etc. are grown in a multi-story system. In addition, different types of vegetables, fruits, flowers are also grown.
